Saturday Series: Holiday Gifts

It's Saturday and time for another Holiday Gift posting.  I'm going to share a couple tutorials that I have used in the past to make some quick, easy holiday gifts.

First off one of my favorites, the Birdie Pincushion Project from Sharon Holland Designs.  I first made this for our Guild Pincushion swap last year.  Since then I've made these for Christmas and May Day gifts and recently a wedding shower gift -- people go crazy for these things!
They're a great way to use up your scraps.  I usually stuff them with sifted playground sand due to people with peanut allergies -- it just makes it easier.  I whipped up five for myself last year using neutral colors to sit on my living room coffee table -- which means can I leave them out well past Christmas.

My other quick and super easy holiday idea is the  Betz White's Fabric Star Ornament.  These 'no sew' stars come together really quickly and I used them last year as present toppers instead of bows.

When I contacted Betz for permission to use her tutorial, she mentioned that she has just launched a new 2013 Holiday Tea Towel design. The cool thing about it is that it can be given as a tea towel or if you're crafty, you can make it into a pillow and four ornaments.  Please check out her website for other great ideas.

These are just two quick gift ideas that I keep making.  There are just so many great ideas and tutorials on the internet, so keep surfing and please share any of your favorites with us on the blog.
