For our March block lottery we will be having a drawing for 36 patch blocks. The blocks will again be 12.5 inches to finish at 12 inches. They should be made in two different colored and contrasting fabrics. (Not white) Here is a link to the instructions to make the block.
The idea of using the 36 patch block was inspired by Amanda and Cheryl's finished quilts and the tube technique in the tutorial is similar to those used in many trip around the world patterns. Be sure to post a photo of your finished block to our flickr group...wonder who the winner will be!
I don't have time for blocks right now (which makes me super sad) but I do have a quick moment to assemble a scrap pack!
Its filled with goodies I am excited to give someone. I'm also really excited to see what I get!
Remember to pack your scraps in a sandwich sized baggy and bring it on thurs. See you there!
Here's a link to a string block tutorial to get you started - http://www.ryanwalshquilts.com/2009/10/string-quilt-blocks-come-join-us.html.
Have fun making your block! We'll see you at the February meeting on 16th at 6:30 p.m. at Sewtropolis. One lucky swap participant will go home with a stack of blocks.
